Ari Bag Design Reveal!

Ari has sent me the final prototype of our specially designed bag!!!! There will also be a DKG with the Rose patch sewn onto the striped area (not sure of location yet), but I wanted to share with you so you can share with your members if they wanted to know what the bag will look like.  You can tell by the photo the size of the bag.  Ari wanted it to be roomy enough for teachers to hold file folders, their laptop, etc. There is also an inside zippered pocket! The $20 cost is so much cheaper than if she sold this retail!!! The bags will be manufactured in her factory in Kalihi, so it's Made in Hawaii!!! I LOVE IT SO MUCH! 

We have 8 more days of registration and 15 days to go! Thank you so much for the registrations we have received, keep them coming in! 

In a separate issue, as we were going to initiate our new members, we couldn't find a place to get our ribbon pins.  Asked national office and they connected me with a Chapter in Virginia.  This is the ribbon pin they sell and the price is great for a magnetic one that is engraved with your name.  Just sharing a resource!

From Rebecca Fries Beta Beta State Chair for World Fellowship:

My name is Rebecca Fries and I am the new Beta Beta State Chair for World Fellowship.  I am a member of Eta Chapter on Kaua'i. Recently I placed a brief article in the State Newsletter asking for possible members for my State Committee.  It will not represent a lot of work only one or two contacts with recipients of this grant. I am hoping for someone from Maui, Hawaii and possibly one or two members from Oahu.

Here are some announcements:


1. We are very pleased to share with you two attachments announcing that the College of Education Alumni Association is honoring as its 2015 Distinguished Alumni our own Ann Mahi at their annual general membership luncheon on Friday, June 5, 2015, at the Japanese Cultural Center of Hawaii, 2454 S. Beretania St., Honolulu


The RSVP reservation deadline is May 22, 2015 and we hope you can join us at the buffet luncheon honoring Ann. 


Even if you're not a member of the UH College of Ed. Alumni Association, you can still join in as a guest for $35.  Guest Speaker for the membership meeting is Leslie Wilcox who will speak on "If Can, How Can? The Story of HIKI NO."

3. BBS Leadership workshop on June 13th.

Here are some announcements:

1. Spring Convention's theme was "SEE Things In A New Way." Here are some highlights:

• Delta Kappa Gamma Beta Beta State T-shirts are ready to order. The next deadline is August 1, 2015. If we can gather enough orders (25), then we can place the order earlier. • We welcomed our new Beta Beta State Officers for 2015-2017. President Donna Shiroma; First Vice President Gloria Kishi; Second Vice President Lori Furoyama; and Secretary Ellen Tanoura

• The 2017 Southwest Regional Conference. Save the date: July 4-7, 2017; Location Sheraton Waikiki; Theme: "Experience a Lifestyle of Aloha" 

• We were asked to pick a committee to be responsible for the 2017 Southwest Regional Conference. Alpha Chapter will be responsible for the All States Breakfast. This requires centerpieces, favors, meals, program, music, printed program, etc.
• Katherine Sakuda is asking for at least six volunteers for the May 3, 2015 Hawaii Convention Center Art Awards to be held from 11:30 am - 3 pm. Please contact Kathy Sakuda at [email protected] should any sister be able to assist.
• We voted on the proposed amendments to BBS By-Laws and Standing Rule. We experience an new way of voting and I think we should try it as a chapter.

2. I attended the "Tell Your Story with Impact!" session by Jo-An Goss and Joyce Tokuda. I loved the hands-on session. We created a message about joining Delta Kappa Gamma using Adobe Voice. Here's the link to the final product: https://youtu.be/gRG7b5XPZHc Please share :)

3. Passing the Torch: DKG Leading the Future 
Leadership Development Workshop at Moanalua Middle School
